Bees Win Final Game of Season With Silver Knights

NEW BRITAIN, C.T. -- The Bees defeated the Nashua Silver Knights on Wednesday night 6-4 in a game which included two late home runs from the Bees to be the difference maker.  The Silver Knights looked strong early on, but the Bees bounced back to win.

The Bees used yet another wild pitch in the top of the fifth inning to grab the lead over Nashua when Danniel Rivera (Southern New Hampshire) came home to score.  New Britain added onto that lead in the eighth inning when Tony Socci went deep for his first home run of the 2020 season, and giving the Bees a 5-3 lead late in the game.  Danniel Rivera extended this lead with a solo home run of his own in the ninth inning, his fourth of the season to tie Noah Martinez (Central CT State University) as the home run leaders on this Bees team.  Dominic Keegan hit a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning but that was not enough for Nashua as the Bees came out with the win.

The Bees started Drew Mead (Marymount University) who pitched six innings and gave up three runs on six hits, while also striking out five Nashua batters and recording the win, improving to 2-1.  Jagger Duquette (Wagner College) received the three inning save for New Britain.

The Silver Knights started Jack Dicenso (Nichols College) who pitched four innings and gave up three runs on five hits.  Nashua pitched four other players including Jake Thibault (Merrimack College) who received the loss.

The Bees improve to 13-20 on the season, while the Silver Knights fall to 20-13.  New Britain returns home to play the Westfield Starfires for their final meeting on Thursday night. First pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m. from New Britain Stadium.
