(NEW BRITAIN, CT) -- Playing on a beautiful Sunday afternoon on Father’s Day, the New Britain Bees defeated the Brockton Rox 10-0 at New Britain Stadium.

The Bees did it on both sides of the ball, led by Jared Kuryan (Western New England/Madison, CT) on the mound and Aidan Cohall (St. John’s/Bronx, NY) at the plate.

Kuryan was in control the entire game, with his only blemish being a first inning walk in what was the first no-hitter in New Britain Bees franchise history. He finished with six strikeouts in the shortened seven inning game due to the mercy.

Cohall had the best game of his brief Bees career, as he went 4-4 with five RBIs including the “walk-off” hit in the bottom of the seventh to clinch the run-rule win.

New Britain got the scoring started early, as Cohall had his first of two two-run singles and Jake Given (UMass Amherst/Boulder, CO) drew a bases loaded walk to make it 3-0 in the bottom of the first.

The Bees followed with two more runs in the bottom of the second thanks to Cohall’s second two-run single to go up 5-0.

Kuryan finished his outing by retiring the final 20 Brockton hitters.

Brockton pitchers struggled with command all afternoon long, allowing nine walks and hitting two New Britain batters.

After going scoreless in the third, the Bees put up another three spot in the fourth. The sixth run of the ballgame was scored on an error by the Rox. Brady Short (Central Connecticut State/Hurley, NY) and Given drove in runs to make it 8-0.

The Rox nearly broke into the hit column in the seventh, but a barehanded play by Chris Einemann (Molloy/Lynnbrook, NY) on a slow roller assisted by a swipe tag by Freddy Forgione (SUNY Maritime/Ronkonkoma, NY) ended the inning after the umpires convened and overturned the initial safe call.

Needing just two runs to win it, Tyler Pettorini (Ohio State/Wooster, OH) lined an RBI triple into the corner to make it 9-0 and Cohall’s base hit to right ended it.

Pettorini and Ryan Taylor (Penn/Elmer, NJ) each led the team with three runs scored and the Bees finished with 11 hits.

After the game, both Kuryan and Cohall were drenched in Gatorade by their teammates to put an exclamation point on a complete team win at New Britain Stadium.

The Bees are back in action again on Tuesday night as the Brockton Rox will be back in New Britain for the second straight game. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m.
