The Bees: New Britain had control for a majority of yesterday’s game against Bridgeport. Jamar Walton tallied his 6th home run of the season in the 4th inning with a 2 run shot to give the Bees the lead. Brian Dupra held the Bluefish offense to just 2 hits through 7 strong innings, striking out 4 batters. But the Bridgeport bats came alive late in the game, scoring 5 runs in the bottom of the 8th inning to come from behind and take the lead. The surge was led by a grand slam by Tony Abreu.

The Opposition: Southern Maryland comes back home after a 6 game road trip where they first visited New Britain back on May 26th through 28th, followed by York to take on the Revolution. On the trip, the Blue Crabs generated a 4-2 record, securing series victories against both opponents. Overall they are riding a 2 game winning streak. They currently sit in 2nd place in the Freedom division, 2 games back of Lancaster.

Starters - New Britain: LHP Anthony Marzi (3-3, 3.44) | Southern Maryland: RHP Gaby Hernandez (3-0, 2.55)

Key to the Game – Cool down Rodriguez, Lozada: In their last 5 games, Devon Rodriguez and Jose Lozada have been swinging hot bats. Lozada is batting .391 with 3 RBI, and Rodriguez is batting .364 with a home run and 2 RBI. In recent games, New Britain starting pitchers have been doing very well at keeping offensive threats from powerful hitters very minimal, facing the strong Bridgeport lineup. Mike Lee went 7 innings only allowing 1 run, and yesterday Brian Dupra only allowed 2 hits through 7 innings. Look for Anthony Marzi and the Bees bullpen to follow in their footsteps, making a note to keep an extra eye on Jose Lozada and Devon Rodriguez since they have established the kind of threat that they can be in recent games, and keep the Southern Maryland hitters off the bases.

Broadcast: The Bees’ Official YouTube Channel (youtube.com/newbritainbees) and Facebook Live (facebook.com/newbritainbees), starting at 6:20 P.M.
