The Bees: New Britain is coming off of a series clinching win against York yesterday. They are in the middle of a 7 game road trip, which concludes with this weekend series against Southern Maryland. So far on the trip they are 3-1. This will be the second time in 2 weeks that New Britain is visiting Waldorf to face the Blue Crabs, having already completed a series against them on the first weekend of June. The Bees were also victorious in that series, 2-1.

The Opposition: Two teams in the Atlantic League did not play yesterday, and Southern Maryland was one of them; the other team being Sugar Land. Those two clubs just got finished playing a 6 game set in Texas, which the Blue Crabs won 5 of the 6 games. The only one that they lost was the first game, so they come in to this series against the Bees on a 5 game win streak. Zach Cone has been getting the job done for the Blue Crabs, hitting .381 in his last 5 games with a home run and 6 RBI.

Starters – New Britain: RHP Kyle Simon (3-3, 4.47) | Southern Maryland: RHP Daryl Thompson (4-3, 2.95)

Key to the Game – Run support for Simon: Two starts ago, Kyle Simon pitched against the Blue Crabs at Southern Maryland, and the Bees saw their first 9 inning outing by a New Britain pitcher of the season. However, the game remained tied after 9 full innings, forcing extras, which the Bees would eventually overcome to get the victory, but Simon would not get a decision. Simon has been on fire on the mound as of late, posting an ERA of 1.56 in his last 2 starts, combining for 17 1/3 innings and striking out 7 batters. Look for the Bees offense to back up Simon, giving him a lead to work with in today’s game, and strive to give him the win in Southern Maryland that he missed getting on his first start in Waldorf.

Broadcast: The Bees’ Official YouTube Channel (youtube.com/newbritainbees) and Facebook Live (facebook.com/newbritainbees), starting at 6:20 P.M.

Song Of the Day: Lady Antebellum - Friday Night
