The Bees: In last night’s game, Conor Bierfeldt totaled 3 RBI, 2 of them coming from a 2 run home run in the 6th inning. He leads the Bees with 27 RBI and 10 home runs on the season, and has homered in back to back games. Jon Griffin also had a multi-RBI performance of his own after he hit a 2 run single in the bottom of the 9th. The Bees bullpen combined to pitch 7 innings of scoreless relief until the Patriots added on to their lead in the 9th.

The Opposition: 7 of the 12 Somerset runs came in the 1st inning off of New Britain starter Jonathan Pettibone, who was forced to face 11 Patriots hitters in that frame. Former Bee Greg Golson finished a home run shy of the cycle, going 3-5 and driving in 3 runs. The Pats were shut out in every inning except the 1st and the 9th; in the last inning they would add vital insurance runs to secure the win.

Starters - New Britain: RHP Kyle Simon (2-3, 5.21) | Somerset: RHP Jerome Williams (2-2, 6.11)

Key to the Game – Simon shuts the door: The New Britain bullpen has been stellar as of late. In their past 4 games (equaling 32 total innings) 16 2/3 of the 18 innings that have been pitched by relievers have been scoreless. Jason Jarvis pitched 5 scoreless innings of relief yesterday, and Brandon Fry has not allowed a run in 8 1/3 consecutive innings of relief. Look for Kyle Simon to stand his ground from the first pitch of the game onward, shutting down the Patriots offense and give the New Britain offense a chance to take an early lead, turning the tables on Somerset, forcing them to play from behind.

Broadcast: The Bees’ Official YouTube Channel (youtube.com/newbritainbees) and Facebook Live (facebook.com/newbritainbees), starting at 6:20 P.M.
