(New Britain, Conn., March 19, 2016) –The looming specter of a winter blast did little to deter Bees Nation, as tickets flew out of the box office during the New Britain Bees’ Opening Day of Ticket Sales at New Britain Stadium on Saturday. Running from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the event saw Bees fans come out en masse to see stadium improvements, purchase tickets and witness the debut of Sting, the Bees official mascot.

Fans were treated to complimentary refreshments, as well as a sneak peak of their seats inside the park. This was the first opportunity for fans to see the vast refurbishments underway inside the ballpark. And while the renovations will not be completed until Opening Day (April 21), many who saw were impressed.
Mike Amico was the first fan to arrive, getting to New Britain Stadium at 5:30 AM to get in line for tickets.
"Coming here was exciting because it's Atlantic League baseball, it's coming close to Hartford, a perfect location," said Amico. "I love the league, love the team, the players are really the best to interact with and socialize [with], so for me it was a no-brainer!"
Fans also enjoyed the opportunity to purchase never-before-available Bees merchandise while also meeting and posing for photos with the newly introduced team mascot, Sting.
“What a great turnout for our Opening Day of Ticket Sales,” said Bees GM Patrick Day. “The community has been so welcoming to us as our inaugural season approaches, and we’re thrilled to see so many passionate fans at New Britain Stadium. Sting’s memorable debut was certainly a highlight of the day, and we can’t wait for opening night on April 21st!”
